The races are chosen for their close finishes and frequent changes of leader, which heightens the tension. Soon everybody's cheering on their chosen favourite, and screaming themselves 'horse' (groan!)

At the end of the evening, the punter/team with the biggest bankroll gets a trophy in recognition of their betting skills (plus an introduction to gamblers anonymous!).
